Automation vs Intelligence
Definition
Automation executes predefined steps, while intelligence interprets context and can adapt outputs. Automation is strong for repeatable tasks, intelligence is strong for variable situations. Many systems combine both, but they are not the same.
Business Context
A process can be automated end to end, but still fail if it cannot handle exceptions. Intelligence helps with exceptions by classifying, prioritizing, or recommending actions.
Why it Matters
It prevents mis-scoping and helps choose the right approach for each workflow.
